An Adventure In Donating A Kidney & Liver
Today is Monday, and with my gallon container, more than half full I must say, I am off to the lab to drop it off. The lab is here in Glastonbury and so is the x-ray lab.
When I arrived at the first lab I was informed they also needed to draw another nine vials of blood.
Even when I was in the Navy (72-76), I didn’t have this much work done on me.
The next stop, x-ray lab. This was much nicer, being half-naked and having women positioning me. I’ll stop there!
Today, I went to Hartford Hospital to meet Audrey White. She, of course, is very nice, as is all the staff members I encountered. We went over all the reasons why I wanted to do this and issues I should consider.
She took my vitals and had eleven vials of blood drawn. That really isn’t that much. The ladies that drew the blood were great! I was also given a gallon container to collect 24 hrs of urine and various slips for other test and labs.
When she told me I needed to get a colonoscopy, my response was: “That’s exit only! It works just fine, leave it alone!”
I also told her I don’t need to be handled carefully. Let’s do this as soon as possible. Golf season is coming!
So, off I went with my collection bottle and lab slips.
